IPL 2021: Team Rankings Based on Batting

Ahead of IPL 2021, we are looking at teams based on their batting strength. Mumbai Indians come first while Rajasthan Royals stand at the bottom.

Mumbai Indians

Undoubtedly Mumbai Indians have the most balanced side in the IPL. Rohit Sharma, Quinton De Kock at the top followed by Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan and the Pandya brothers with Nathan Coulter Nile at 8 bring depth. Chris Lynn is there as a back-up as well and the new recruit Piyush Chahwal will come handy too.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals kept their Indian core intact. Despite missing Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant in the line-up. They got Steve Smith too and Marcus Stoinis would be looking for another cracking season. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin come at 7 and 8, and let’s not forget Ajinkya Rahane.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore have two best batsmen of world cricket in Virat Kohli and AB Devilliers. Devdutt Padikkal was brilliant at the top in IPL 2020. Now they have Glenn Maxwell to bat at 4 or 5. They also purchased domestic sensation Mohammad Azharudeen.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings will depend on Faf du Plessis who was outstanding last year. Suresh Raina will be batting at No. 3 once Faf opens with Robin Uthappa. MS Dhoni comes next while the middle-order boasts of Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja. Dwayne Bravo and Sam Curran also helpful.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders could have managed to rant ahead of RCB and CSK but it is their opening issue that needs to solved soon. Shubman Gill is yet to adapt with the format and KKR have options in Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana to partner Gill at opening. However, then come Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik. They have Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in the mix who got backups in Ben Cutting and Shakib Al Hasan in last auction.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have the best in the business in Chris Gayle who defeat any team on any given day. They have KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal opening the batting followed by Gayle and Shahrukh Khan and Nicholas Pooran. Moises Henriques and Chris Jordan can help them if used smartly.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad always flaunt an excellent top-order thanks to the presence of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow at the top followed by Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha Jason Holder. They needed middle-order stability amid Vijay Shankar, Priyam Garg, Abishek Sharma, and Abdul Samad and the got Kedar Jadhav.
