IPL 2021: Know about the debutant of RCB, Rajat Patidar

Born in Madhya Pradesh on June 1, 1993 this Indian cricketer, Rajat Patidar has been around for a few years. He plays domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh and a neat hitter of the ball. Patidar made his first-class debut on in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. His T20 debut happened in the 2017-18 Zonal T20 league. Then in August 2019, he was named in the India Blue team’s squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy.

In the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy he was the highest run-scorer for Madhya Pradesh with 713 runs in eight matches. Since then he has been a promising name in the Indian domestic cricket. Recently he has been in excellent form in the limited-overs leg of the game. In last two months, he recorded quite a few 50-plus scores including his career-best 96 against Goa in a T20 match. In a Vijay Hazare Trophy match, he scored a century in February. He scored 219 runs in matches for Madhya Pradesh in the 50-over competition.

Then he was purchased for his base price of Rs 20 lakh by Royal Challengers Bangalore just ahead of the IPL 2021. He has so far played a total of 22 T20 matches and amassed 699 runs at an average of 34.95 and with a strike rate above 143.

The right-hand top order batsman replaced Devdutt Padikkal in the first match of IPL 2021 against Mumbai Indians. Devdutt Padikkal who was the highest scorer for RCB in the last season was kept outside of the first match as he had recently recovered from the Covid-19. This is a great opportunity for the right-hand batsman to showcase his skills at such a massive stage in front of such superstars of the game.
