IPL 2021: All You Need to Know About Punjab Kings Debutant Riley Medredith

Riley Meredith made it to the headline after Punjab Kings bought him for a hefty price. Punjab were aiming at an overhaul in their overseas core group. As a part of the strategy, they got Meredith on board for a huge price of Rs 8 crore. Meredith who made debut playing for a Cricket Australia XI against Pakistan in early 2017, showed his worth in the 2018-19.

He went on to scalp 27 wickets for Tasmania in eight matches of Sheffield Shield tournament. Then added 16 more to his name during the BBL as the Hobart Hurricanes reached the semi-finals. By that stage, he already came into the radar of selectors. During BBL 2019-20 Meredith suffered from a side strain and could take part in only six matches. However, his pace continued to impress all as he picked up ten wickets at an economy rate of just 6.68 across the season. Then he dismissed both David Warner and Steven Smith in a Marsh Cup game against New South Wales which almost made him certain for the Australia call-up.
