IPL 2020: Sunrisers Hyderabad give an Update on Mitchell Marsh’s Injury

Mitchell Marsh injured himself just after delivering four balls in the third match of IPL 2020. Sunrisers Hyderabad chose to field first in their opening game of IPL 2020 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Marsh was included to the side considering the nature of the pitch.

Mitchell Marsh gets the nod

Mitchell Marsh was included in the Sunrisers Hyderabad set-up for their first IPL 2020 match in UAE. The decision did raise a few eyebrows but the management trusted the track and took a call accordingly. Four overseas players were taken by SRH on the side are- David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Mitchell Marsh, and Rashid Khan. The set opening pair and T20 specialist spinner were not something they would like to skip at the beginning of their IPL 2020 campaign. Speaking of Mitchell Marsh, the seal bowling all-rounder did have a few good shows in the recently concluded ODI and T20I series against England. He was pretty consistent with bat and ball during Australia’s recent tour of England. The seam friendly pitch hence was a justifying reason to include this all-rounder in the side.

Marsh gets injured

Mitchell Marsh was handed over the ball in the fifth over of the Bangalore innings. He could bowl only four deliveries before getting injured and leaving the ground. His first four deliveries went for no run, 1, 4, and 1. Just after the second delivery, while trying to field he twisted his ankle. The physio was out there with some temporary help. It seemed that Marsh was all set to resume the action. But two more deliveries into the over and Mitchell Marsh started struggling again. He eventually had to walk off. Marsh, a right-arm medium-fast bowler was then replaced by Vijay Shankar, a right-arm medium to finish the over.
