IPL 2020: RCB new coach Simon Katich praises Virat Kohli

If there is anything that is negative about Virat Kohli’s cricket career that has to be Royal Challengers Bangalore. Led by Kohli, Bangalore is yet to win one IPL. No wonder a lot has been talked about the management, captaincy, and the players in all these years. There is one thing sure that RCB has full faith on the captain Kohli. Recently the head coach of the team, Simon Katich came up with praise for the skipper.

Kohli to continue to lead RCB

Former Australian cricketer and newly appointed Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) head coach Simon Katich said that the record of the Kohli speaks for him. According to him, Kohli’s contribution as a team player is immense. “His (Kohli) records speak for him. I have a huge amount of respect for what he has achieved not only as a player but also as the captain of India. What I really like about him is the fact that he is super competitive, because that’s exactly what I am like and I love that.”

Kohli, the team man

When he was about the change of captaincy in Royal Challengers Bangalore he clearly said there is no chance of the same. He was also asked for his views on the perception of Kohli controlling the calls. Katich to this said, “We haven’t got that perception about Virat at all. Potentially there is a learning from that and the fact that what he has done in the past, maybe he has learnt from that and wants to go about things differently moving forward. But from what we’ve discussed with him so far, he has very much been aligned about how we want to move forward, and happy to take advice from our experience and how we see things.”

Kohli’s 100 at Perth in the third Test of the four-match series in December last year is one of the favourite innings the Bangalore coach has ever seen. In addition to this he went on to praise Kohli’s recent innings against South Africa and said, “Last night, we saw another example of what an amazing player he is. He is a fine leader who leads with real spirit and passion.”
