Four teams at the lower half of IPL 2020 points table still have fair chances to make it to the playoffs. For few, chances are very slim but for some, potentials are still huge. Let’s find out.
Chennai Super Kings: The history of Indian Premier League has never seen Chennai Super Kings in so much trouble. Chennai Super Kings, led Mahendra Singh Dhoni are struggling to find their momentum in every match. Currently Chennai Super Kings are at the 8th position with six points after playing 10 matches so far in the league. With seven losses it is an uphill task ahead for CSK men to stay in the race. Moreover, even if they manage to win their remaining four games, they will have to depend a lot of other teams. However, mathematically they will still have chances. But one defeat, and they will be out.
IPL 2020: Can Chennai Super Kings still Make it to the Play-offs?
Kings XI Punjab: With Kings XI Punjab, things have been pretty similar like Chennai Super Kings. But Chennai Super Kings have had few very close defeats. Which is why the fans are still not ready to give up on the slight chances KXIP have to make it to the next level. Kings Xi Punjab have three wins from nine matches now which means every match is a must-win content for KL Rahul’s side now. They have to win five remaining games to reach the top four. Even for KXIP, one loss from here and things will be end for this season for Kings XI Punjab.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: With six points from nine games, David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad are on the same boat as Kings XI Punjab. Sunrisers Hyderabad also have five matches left and they have to win them all. Net Run Rate will play a huge role if two teams have same points, so the Hyderbad team must consider the same. Moreover, Sunrisers Hyderabad did this earlier so they know the job well. They are yet to play KXIP and Rajasthan Royals, who are both also in lower-half of the table. This means SRH have a healthy chance of winning these matches and making it to the next stage.
Rajasthan Royals: Rajasthan Royals led by Steve Smith have eight points from 10 games. They are presently at the 5th place and undoubtedly have the highest chance of reaching top four. Rajasthan Royals, however have to keep an eye on their Net Run Rate as well. The Royals will be playing Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab with huge chance of claiming wins. After their latest dominating win against CSK, RR fans can hope for the best. With four games in hand, if the Royals can win at least three of them, they will be in the race of qualifying to the playoffs.
