IPL 2020 KXIP vs DC: Mayank Agarwal’s Injury Might Raise KXIP Concern

Even chasing 165 seemed to be difficult for Kings XI Punjab initially but in the end, they won by 5 wickets with one over left. Mayank Agarwal in the process got run out and, in all probability, hurt himself during a horrible mix-up in the middle.

Dhawan scores second IPL 100

Batting first Delhi Capitals scored 164 for the loss of five wickets in the fixture against Kings XI Punjab. For the Punjab side, this is an all-important match to remain in the race. None of the Delhi Capitals batters could show resistance against the KXIP bowlers except the star opener Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar Dhawan went on to hit his second century of this IPL and added 105* to the total team score of 164. The second-highest scorers were Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant with 14 each. Mohammed Shami once again was the highlight of the KXIP camp and took two important wickets. Glenn Maxwell picked up one wicket with James Neesham and Murugan Ashwin also sealing for one scalp each.

Agarwal hurts himself

The chase should not have been a tough one for Kings XI Punjab with two in-form batsmen KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal in the side. But this time none of them worked. KL Rahul was first to go after scoring only 15 runs followed by Chris Gayle after quick 13-ball 29 runs. Agarwal was still there in the middle with a lot of responsibility bestowed on him. But mayhem in the middle between Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran saw the former getting run-out after an individual contribution of just five runs.

Nicholas Pooran calls for a run to which Agarwal did not respond initially. It was slower from Ravichandran Ashwin and Agarwal was caught ball-watching. Pooran, meanwhile began running and Agarwal set off quite late. A direct throw from Ashwin proved that the running took a bit more time and as a result, Agarwal was dismissed.

But what is concerning is that Agarwal was seen limping off the ground. Although there is no official announcement yet if Agarwal has hurt himself that would not be good news for Kings XI Punjab.
