KKR got a quick success with Quinton de Kock’s early dismissal. But that was all they had to celebrate. Post that there was no sign of KKR bowling making any impact. Moreover, the bowlers were visibly struggling in front of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. Especially with Rohit Sharma who hit six sixes to scored a quick 80 off just 54 balls. The Knight Riders bowlers were continuously bowling erratic lengths including plenty of short balls to the duo’s liking as they kept smashing for big hits. Apart from Sunil Narine (4-0-22-1) and Shivam Mavi (4-1-32-2) none of the KKR bowlers would like to remember this outing. It seemed that KKR batters did not have any hope of a successful chase. It was evident from their body language. Let’s just do not question their intent but agree on the fact that they could see this coming. Trent Boult started with a maiden and both Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine looked uncomfortable during their shorts stays in the crease. Both of them were gone within the first five overs. Dinesh Karthik (30), Nitish Rana (24), and Pat Cummins (33) tried to put some fight but their other overseas stars Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell failed to get going and surrendered meekly. The asking rate was increasing ball by ball and the defeat was just a matter of time. Kolkata Knight Riders need to find their best possible batting combination soon before it is too late
