Chennai Super Kings are out there to play their 13th IPL match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, they will miss the service of their top batsman Faf du Plessis this time. Keep reading to find out the reason why Faf du Plessis is not playing against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020.

Here’s why Faf du Plessis is not playing today against KKR

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first. This match is vital for Kolkata Knight Riders but for Chennai Super Kings there is nothing left in IPL 2020 anymore. But definitely a few good performances at the end will boost the morale of the side. They can plan and focus to do well in the upcoming season. When Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced today’s CSK squad, it was surprising for many to know about the exclusion of Faf du Plessis. But Dhoni mentioned about one being dropped due to injury; netizens believe the skipper spoke about Faf du Plessis.

“We are bowling first, bit worried about the dew. We had some dew during practice, so it’s better to bat second with dew around. We haven’t been at our best, that’s the reason we have been lagging behind. Quite a few changes, Faf, Tahir, Monu out. Watto, Lungi, Karn in. One injury and the rest are changes,” Dhoni informed after winning the toss.

There is no official information yet about Faf du Plessis and hence it is being presumed that he had to miss the match for the injury Dhoni mentioned about. Faf du Plessis is the highest run-scorer for Chennai Super Kings this season with 401 runs in 12 matches at an average of 40.10 and a strike rate above 140. So, if the form is concerned, as one of the top contributors Faf du Plessis should not be dropped.

However, fortunately for Chennai Super Kings Shane Watson is back to the field. Watson is their third-highest run-getter with 285 runs at an average 31.66 and a strike rate of 125. With the young Ruturaj Gaikwad at the opening along with Watson, CSK could expect a good show in the middle today.
