Unwell skipper

In an extraordinary situation Mumbai Indians lost their latest match against Kings XI Punjab after two Super Overs. After the 35th IPL 2020 match Kieron Pollard came to interact with the media instead of Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. Pollard informed, “I was told that he’s (Rohit) not feeling well, that’s why I’m here to chat with you guys. We’ll see what happens but he’s a fighter.”

Pollard also spoke about the influence of Jaspirt Bumrah in the squad. “He’s (Bumrah) a world-class cricketer. He has learned and has gone leaps and bounds for us at Mumbai Indians in a run of while and so. A couple of years ago, we had a fit and fair Lasith Malinga and he (Bumrah) has taken over that mantle now and so.”

MI to come up with better plan

The match saw at first Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab scoring identical 176/6 in stipulated 20 overs. The match went into Super Over where once again the scores were tied and it went into second Super Over. In the first Super Over Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma failed to score six runs to win. “Obviously there are decision-makers to make the decision, you know we can look at those things and say that’s where we lost the game but we played a very good game of cricket. We batted well and getting to 170 odd and bringing the game to the last over,” said Pollard. Pollard came with Hardik Pandya to bat in the second Super Over where they scored only 11 runs and eventually KXIP chased it down.

The defending champions are now at second spot with 12 points with six wins from nine matches. Pollard spoke about MI’s future plans in the league going ahead. “Just a matter of improvement, each and every time we step on the cricket field is to improve and to do better. We will look back and analyze the game and we will come up with a better plan and hopefully get two points in the next game.”
