A bunch of cricketers worldwide wait for IPL every season. The platform does not only give the reputed ones to have a unique experience of the T20 league but also provides opportunity to youngsters to make a mark. In the wake of the pandemic, the IPL 2020 was initially deferred with uncertain future. But the cancellation of men’s T20 World Cup once again opened a window for the league to be organized by the BCCI.

Speaking about the same, Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell said that with a home World Cup scheduled at the end of the year, they were looking at IPL 2020 as a build-up to the same. “Any time you have a home World Cup you are certainly looking forward to it. We felt like we had been building towards it as a T20 side.” Although the showpiece event is not happening this year anymore, Glenn Maxwell is still excited for the IPL 2020. “You wait and see (with the IPL), waiting on the judgments of other people, what you can and can’t do with travel and quarantine times and all that, if everything gets ticked off there I have no real reason no to go.”

Glenn Maxwell is game ready

Glenn Maxwell shared about his thoughts on the cash-rich T20 league played in India every year. He explained, “The overseas guys get a hell of a kick playing in it, some of the best players in the world rubbing shoulders, similar to a World Cup, but on a smaller scale. If everything gets ticked off, I would love to be available for it.”

The 31-year-old also disclosed how he was always getting himself ready for the time when cricket would make a comeback. Glenn Maxwell opined that it is not about the opponents but about being game ready. “I was always mentally getting myself ready for this time of year when there would potentially be cricket back on. I haven’t been thinking about where we are going to end you or who we are going to be playing. It was about getting my game ready, my body ready, and making sure I was ready for any series,” Maxwell added further.
