IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals to Play Remaining IPL 2020 Without Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma is officially out of the Indian Premier League 2020. Reportedly, Delhi Capitals have asked for a replacement for Ishant Sharma.

According to the source’s information to ANI, Delhi Capitals have sent a request to the IPL General Council asking for a replacement for their veteran pacer Ishant Sharma. Speaking to ANI, sources in the know of developments said, “Yes, we have sent in a request to the organizers for a replacement for Ishant.” They have sent a written application which means Ishant Sharma is now out of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. Ishant Sharma has so far played only one came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian T20 league in the UAE.

Ishant Sharma is currently sidelined with a back injury. The veteran reportedly had felt soreness in his back during the team’s training a day before Delhi Capitals’ first match of the season against Kings XI Punjab. He had to miss the first two matches of his side before returning for the third against the Hyderabad side. Rishabh Pant of Delhi Capitals also is out of action at present with a strained hamstring. He will be back at least after a week. “We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer said at the post match presentation ceremony on Sunday.

Injury issue with Delhi Capitals

Ishant Sharma follows his teammate Amit Mishra who was also ruled out due to injury. This definitely comes as a blow for Delhi Capitals who have done well so far in the league. Delhi Capitals had released a statement regarding the same, “Mishra will now consult with a specialist over the next few days to determine the most appropriate course of management for this unfortunate injury. Everyone at Delhi Capitals wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Delhi Capitals had to face an injury issue with Ravichandran Ashwin as well. He had hurt his shoulder in the first game but recovered quickly.
