IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals give an Update on Ravichandran Ashwin’s Injury

After a brilliant over Ravichandran Ashwin had to leave the field due to injury in the match against Kings XI Punjab. Before getting himself injured he did his job pretty well to almost take his team to the finishing line.

All eyes were on Ravichandran Ashwin when he hit the ground against his previous IPL side in Dubai today. Ashwin was traded to Delhi Capitals by Kings XI Punjab ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. Ashwin who was involved in a controversial incident in IPL 2019, is a mainstay for Delhi Capitals in this IPL especially considering the UAE conditions. The experienced member did his job well as he took two major KXIP wickets in one over. KXIP are chasing 158 set by the Capitals will great difficulty. After the quick removal of KL Rahul by Mohit Sharma when the middle order was getting prepared to build the innings, Ashwin let his skills talk. Ashwin in his very first over dismissed Karun Nair (1) and Nicholas Pooran (0) conceding only two runs.

Ashwin retired hurt

The last ball of the same ball was sent to long-off by Glenn Maxwell. Ashwin tried to dive to save the ball. He saved runs but, in all probability, dislocated his left shoulder. The physio was out there to provide him with some help. But it could not solve the problem. Ashwin had to leave the ground for the time being. There has not been any official announcement by the franchise yet. The official Delhi Capitals twitter account shared, “Ashwin has gone off the field injured 😓 We really hope this isn’t too serious 🤞🏻”

Espncricinfo wrote, “This could be a dislocation. He’s going off. With some caution, Farhart supporting his left elbow so as not to make any big movements. That could be Ashwin done for the night, and for a couple of games if it is indeed a dislocation. What a pity after the splendid over. He was diving to the right, landed on his belly and the impact with his arms outstretched seems to have caused the issue. He didn’t actually land on a shoulder as first suspected.”

Official Update on Ashwin’s Injury

After the game, the Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer informed about the status of Ashwin’s injury. As per the off-spinner, he feels he would be ready for the next game. However, the final decision would be made by the physio after assessing the injury.
