IPL 2020: CSK Coach Loses his Cool at Press Conference

Stephen Fleming, Chennai Super Kings coach lost his cool at the press conference after third consecutive loss of CSK. Fleming was asked to explain the reason behind sending Kedar Jadhav ahead of Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the chess and he got furious.

CSK suffer third loss

While chasing down 165 against Sunrisers Hyderabad Chennai Super Kings suffered their third back-to-back loss in the IPL 13. Kedar Jadhav was sent ahead of Dhoni at No 4 although the former could only add three runs to the total. Abdul Sama, the young leg-spinner dismissed him quickly. Dhoni tried his best to keep his team in the hunt. He developed a 72-run partnership for the 5th-wicket with Ravindra Jadeja (50). But that was definitely not enough after the top-order’s collapse. Eventually CSK were stopped on 157 for the loss of five wickets. Dhoni remained unbeaten with 47 till the end and visibly was struggling although was trying his best to take his team home.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, earlier young Priyam Garg scored an unbeaten 51 while Abhishek Sharma (31) and Manish Pandey (29) also played crucial roles in setting a decent target of 164/5.

Furious Fleming

Fleming, the coach of CSK later was asked why Kedar Jadhav was sent ahead of Dhoni. It did not go well with him. The reply was not that pleasant in the beginning and later he explained the team management’s thought process behind taking the call.

The reporter asked, “What was the though-process behind sending Kedar Jadhav ahead of MS Dhoni?” Fleming clearly lost his cool when he countered it, “Really? I said really, it’s a question?”, he continued, “Well he’s (Kedar Jadhav) our number four, Dhoni primarily is a middle-to-backend player. Kedar Jadhav is our No.4, he plays dual roles where if we get off to a good start, he might move down and let Dhoni up but when your losing early wickets then your No.4 batsman goes in so… You can’t keep, no I’ll stop there.”
