IPL 2020: Chris Green or Lockie Ferguson? What’s the solution for KKR if they rest Narine?

Kolkata Knight Riders released a statement regarding Sunil Narine getting warned for suspected bowling action. The franchise may like to rest Narine over such controversial situation. In that case, who could be the ideal replacement for the West Indiana all-rounder?

Narine could miss RCB match

After the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab, an IPL release had stated on Saturday, “Sunil Narine, the Kolkata Knight Riders player, has been reported for bowling with a Suspected Illegal Bowling Action during his side’s Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab at Abu Dhabi. The report was made by the on-field umpires according to the IPL’s Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy. Mr Narine will be placed on the Warning List and is permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament. Another report will result in Mr. Narine being suspended from bowling in the Dream11 IPL 2020 until cleared by the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.”

IPL 2020: Is Sunil Narine in for KKR vs RCB Match Today

In reply Kolkata Knight Riders came up with a release saying the news was surprising to the franchise. It further read, “ Having said this, we are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation being extended by the IPL in expediting this matter.”

Who to replace Narine then?

As the franchise released a statement few hours before hitting the ground against Royal Challengers Bangalore, there looms a question of Narine’s selection in the team today. But the million-dollar question is who should Kolkata Knight Riders include in place of Sunil Narine in case he is not playing. Chris Green looks like a suitable option here. The Australian all-rounder has experience of playing T20 leagues all across the globe. The experience of the 27-year-old could be an added advantage here as he is also handy with the bat apart from his right-arm off-spin bowling.

Another player that could replace Narine in the squad is Lockie Ferguson. Narine has been a top bowler of KKR this season so far. Even in the last match, he defended 14 in the last over to provide a significant win to his team against Kings XI Punjab. So, Kolkata Knight Riders might also look for Lockie Ferguson to pair with Pat Cummins especially in the star-studded line-up against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
