IPL 2020: Amit Mishra Ruled Out of IPL 13

A major setback for Delhi Capitals as their veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra is going to miss the remainder of IPL 2020. Mishra has been ruled out of the ongoing league in UAE followed by a finger injury.

Amit Mishra out of the league

One of the veteran cricketers of Indian Premier League, Amit Mishra took a blow to his fingers during the match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday in Sharjah. He was trying to take a catch off his own bowling and suffered the same. The DC member hence will be missing the rest of IPL 2020. Delhi Capitals released the official statement saying, “The 37-year-old sustained a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand whilst attempting to take a return catch off his bowling during Delhi Capitals’ match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Sharjah on 3rd October 2020.”

The release further shared more information about Amit Mishra’s future plans regarding the treatment. Mishra will now consult with a specialist over the next few days to determine the most appropriate course of management for this unfortunate injury.”

Replacement for Mishra

Amit Mishra is one of the successful bowlers of IPL over the years. He recently went past Harbhajan Singh to become the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 160 wickets. He is only behind Lasith Malinga at the top on an all-time list. Malinga is not playing IPL 2020 and Mishra had a fair chance to claim the top position of the chart as well.

As expected Axar Patel has been included in the Delhi Capitals squad for the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. But the Capitals have a T20 specialist, Sandeep Lamichchane as well as a back-up leg-spinner. Since he is an overseas option, maintain the team balance is what the Capitals have to consider before including him.
