Indian Under-19 team recently achieved a massive success as they lifted the Under-19 World Cup. Thruought the tournament, the Boys in Blue were dominant and didn’t give even a sniff to any opposition and remained unbeaten in the tournament. One of the premier reasons for India’s dominance was the Bradmanesque form of Shubman Gill.

The youngster had an outstanding run in the tournament as he scored 372 runs in 5 innings at a humongous average of 124. Kolkata Knight Riders bagged him from the auction for INR 1.8 crores and it’s a massive opportunity for Gill to showcase his skills amongst the best players in the cricketing fraternity.

Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils were involved in a bidding war with Rajasthan Royals but the latter managed to pick him for INR 4 crores. Now that Steve Smith is barred from playing in the IPL 11, it gives an opportunity for Darcy Short to be prominent in the playing XI. He is a hard-hitting batsman at the top of the order and can win games on his own. His left-arm spin is an added advantage and he can give RR 2-3 overs regularly which make him one of the players to look out for in this season.

One of the most dangerous batsmen in the shortest format of the game currently is Evin Lewis. The explosive left-hander has risen through the ranks rapidly in the year gone by. Where Chris Gayle ruled the hearts in the Indian T20 league in the last decade, the baton could just pass to his subordinate Lewis from now on. Mumbai Indians added the Caribbean batsman to their camp for INR 3.8 crores and he will now open the innings for the franchise. The Wankhede Stadium is a fortress for MI where they win more often than not and the track is a paradise for batting. This could be the perfect setting for Lewis and he could light up the tournament with his towering sixes.

Jofra Archer was an unknown commodity a few months ago but a stellar performance in the Big Bash League has earned him a name in the cricketing map. His playing style defines what we call a T20 specialist. He is not express in pace but is more than useful with the new ball. But his expertise lies at the death where he brings in the variations. Rajasthan Royals spent a massive amount of INR 7.2 crores for Archer and strengthened the squad. The all-rounder is being looked at as the next Andre Russell of Windies. He hasn't shown the same prowess in batting like Russell but it remains to be seen whether he raises his game with the willow in hand this year.

India's recent tour of South Africa showcased some fine quick bowling and a new kid on the block was Lungisani Ngidi. The tall pacer devastated the Indian batting line-up in his debut Test and won the Man of the Match award. In the ODI series that followed, although the hosts lost miserably, Ngidi was impressive even then. Chennai Super Kings bought him for his base price of INR 50 Lakhs but it was an absolute steal-deal for a quality pacer like Ngidi. He might not make the first XI but he could be a handy bowler owing to his height. If he adds the change-ups to his armor, he could be a deadly pacer given the slow nature of the MA Chidambaram pitch.
