Indian Women's A Team Dominates Hong Kong in ACC Women's Emerging Teams Cup Opener, Shreyanka Patil impresses with her 5-wicket haul

In an impressive display of dominance, the Indian Women’s A team kicked off their campaign in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup with a resounding victory over Hong Kong Women. RCB player Shreyanka Patil emerged as the star performer, wreaking havoc with her sensational bowling figures. India A bowled out Hong Kong for a paltry 34 runs before cruising to a comprehensive 9-wicket win with 88 balls to spare.

Shreyanka Patil’s impressive spell

Patil’s extraordinary spell of 5 wickets for just 2 runs in 3 overs left the Hong Kong batting lineup in tatters. The 20-year-old showcased her prowess by taking a wicket off the very first ball she bowled, dismissing Marina Lamplough. Patil continued her stellar performance, claiming three wickets in the 11th over while conceding only a single run. In her final over, she cleaned up Ruchitha Venkatesh, concluding her spell with remarkable figures.

Chasing the meager target of 35, the Indian A women achieved victory in a mere 5.2 overs, showcasing their batting prowess. Captain Shweta Sehrawat and wicket-keeper Uma Chetry provided a solid start, but Sehrawat fell early, courtesy of Betty Chan’s bowling. However, Gongadi Trisha joined Chetry at the crease and ensured that India didn’t lose any further ground. Their partnership propelled India A to a resounding win in their tournament opener.

India A’s Asia Cup group

India A finds themselves in Group A, alongside Pakistan A, Nepal, and Hong Kong, in the inaugural edition of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. In Group 2, Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, UAE, and Malaysia will battle it out. Each team will play three matches in the group stage, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, leading to the highly-anticipated summit clash where the ultimate champion will be decided.

The Indian Women’s A team’s emphatic performance in their opening match sets a positive tone for their campaign in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup. With promising players like Shreyanka Patil, Titas Sadhu, Mannat Kashyap, and Gongadi Trisha making their mark, India A aims to continue their winning momentum and make a strong statement in the tournament.
