Cricket in India is a hugely popular sport. It’s nothing short of a religion in the country and it’s the only thing that unites the whole nation. The cricketers are the superstars and the players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have a God-like stature amongst the fans. No other sport comes even close to attaining the same popularity in India. It’s arguably the biggest entertainer.
Talking about entertainment, there is one TV show that has ruled the hearts of the fans for more than 2 decades. The American comedy show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is highly famous all over the world and a huge chunk of followers comes from India. The people of India have followed the show closely and are ardent followers of it.
Amongst the youngsters, if anything comes close to matching cricket, it’s F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Both of these are biggest sources of entertainment and hence, it makes for an interesting read to compare the characters of the show with the Indian cricketers.
Let’s take a look at the equivalents from the two entertainers:
#1 MS Dhoni – Chandler Bing
Chandler Bing was undoubtedly the funniest in the show. His sarcastic comments, that too, with apt timing, are a treat to watch. Although Dhoni is calm and collective unlike Chandler, his witty sense of humor comes straight from Chandler’s book.
Remember the time when the former Indian captain made a mockery of a journalist who tried to troll him? Dhoni invited him along to sit with him and answered his question with a Chandler-like sarcasm. This was one of the many incidents and his witty comments from behind the stumps make him appear like Chandler.
