Indian Cricket Team to Resume International Cricket in August

Reportedly the BCCI is under pressure to have an international series for the Indian cricket team ahead of IPL 2020. The board has already started planning for IPL 2020. If the stakeholders manage to put pressure on the board, there is a chance of the Indian cricket team and South Africa meet in the later part of August.

When cricket was forced to take a long break due to pandemic, South Africa were in India playing a limited-overs series. But the BCCI had to cancel the Indian cricket team’s match against the Proteas and then Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe matches were also called off. Now as per a report in Bangalore Mirror, the BCCI stakeholders are keen on having an international series before IPL 2020. They are putting pressure on the Indian cricket board for the same, preferably against South Africa.

Indian cricket team are already scheduled to face South Africa in August (the series is not a part of the original Future Tours Program) for three T20I matches. While asked about the bilateral series, Brijesh Patel told, “We will discuss everything at the GC (Governing Council).”

Indian cricketers to be seen in the national camp

As per the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is concerned, the IPL chairman Brijesh Patel already gave a green signal to it. According to reports, IPL 2020 will begin on September 26 and the Indian cricket board is planning to organize it in UAE. Meanwhile, the BCCI-contracted Indian cricket team players will be seen at Ahmedabad’s Motera Stadium for a national camp in upcoming weeks. The Indian cricketers have been under through monitoring of coaching since last four Months. Now they will be seen hitting the ground for a rigorous training session.

The International cricket however has been resumed by England and West Indies. Both teams are busy playing Test cricket in England. If the Indian cricket board organized the T20I series against South Africa in August that will mark India’s return to international cricket amid pandemic.
