Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has expressed his belief that Australia remains “vulnerable” despite their advancement to the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Speaking on Star Sports, Gambhir stated, “Australia are still very vulnerable, but yes, they know how to win these knockout games.”
Gambhir emphasized that India, having played their A-game in the last 10 matches, will be confident facing Australia in the final scheduled at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. He said, “India will have to play their A-game in the final, which they have been playing since the last 10 matches. India are going to be very confident facing Australia in Ahmedabad.”
In the semifinal, Australia faced a challenging target set by South Africa, with David Miller‘s century helping the Proteas post 212 runs. However, Travis Head’s impressive innings of 62 runs guided Australia to victory. Despite Australia’s victory, Gambhir suggested they didn’t bring their A-game, stating, “Don’t think Australia brought their A-game in the semi-final.”
He commended India’s consistent performance and emphasized the need for them to maintain their high standards in the final. Gambhir said, “India will have to play their A-game in the final, which they have been playing since the last 10 matches.”
