India vs Australia 4th Test: Funny scenes in Ahmedabad as a Fan goes on a treasure hunt for the ball after Gill’s six

The second day of the final Test match of the Border Gavaskar trophy has put Australia in a very comfortable position. India were finally able to get all the wickets in the last hour of the day’s play after the Australian team batted for 167 overs and scored 480 runs.

For India, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma took guard, with the sole objective of surviving the day. India played just 10 overs and finished the day with 36 runs, without the loss of any wicket. As we move on to the third day, the goal ahead of the Indian team would not only be to surpass Australia’s mammoth total but also to get a lead so that we can actually get a result in the game.

It was a long and intense day of cricket for the Indian team. However, the day did end on a lighter note. On the second ball of the final over, Nathan Lyon gave Shubman Gill a floating half-volley. Gill was quick to pounce on it; stepping out and hitting the ball for a six over the long-on boundary.

The ball flew past the boundary line, over the advertising boards, and landed right into the sight screen. The ball nestled snugly into the screen, and despite the frantic efforts of the ground staff, it was unreachable. The match had come to a halt, and the players looked on, waiting for a decision from the umpires.

Moment of fame for Spectator

The fourth umpire emerged from the pavilion with a box of new cricket balls, ready to replace the lost one. The on-field umpires huddled together, discussing which ball would be the best fit for the game. Just as they were about to make their decision, a sudden commotion broke out amongst the crowd. A spectator had jumped into the sight-screen, determined to retrieve the lost ball.

The on-field umpires were taken aback, but they quickly sprang into action, trying to persuade the spectator to move away so that play could resume with the new ball. The spectator was unwilling to budge, determined to retrieve the lost ball himself. The situation became tense, with both the umpires and the spectators trying to persuade him to move.
