“I’ll always be a Mahendra Singh Dhoni fan”: Hardik Pandya

In Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on the defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) in an attempt to advance to their tenth final. Former champions Chennai Super Kings, the most reliable team in IPL playoff history, are aiming for a record-equaling fifth championship in the T20 competition’s 16th season.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Super Kings will take on the GT, who are the current champions and are coached by all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Gujarat will be facing MS Dhoni‘s CSK for the first time in the renowned competition in Chepauk. A fascinating revelation was made by Pandya regarding the flamboyant commander of the Yellow Brigade. Pandya and Dhoni get along well. Dhoni, who is renowned for his composure, is frequently recognized as one of the finest captains in the annals of the sport.

Pandya talks about MS Dhoni

Prior to CSK’s match against GT, Gujarat Titans shared a video on social media in which Hardik Pandya showed his admiration for the two-time World Cup-winning captain.

“I’ll always be a Mahendra Singh Dhoni fan and for so many fans out there and so many cricket lovers. You need to be a proper devil to hate Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A lot of people think Mahi is serious and all that. For me, I crack jokes and I don’t see him as a Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Obviously, I’ve learnt a lot of things from him, a lot of positive things, which I’ve learnt from him just while watching, not even much talking,” Pandya said.

“For me, he’s just my dear friend, dear brother, who I do pranks, who I chill,” added Pandya.

Pandya led GT to IPL triumph in their inaugural IPL campaign last year. Pandya led the Ahmedabad-based team to the championship round of the prestigious competition in 2023, when they were defending their title.

For the second straight year, Pandya and company held the top spot in the IPL 2023 standings. This season, the Gujarat Titans played 14 games and won 10. Pandya, an all-arounder, led GT in scoring with 289 runs during the league phase of the IPL 2023.
