“If the IPL is on David Warner’s planning on going.”, says Warner’s manager

Although the future of IPL 2020 is still uncertain, the manager of David Warner confirmed his participation. This comes as a great relief for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to know the availability of the skipper if the league is held.

Warner sure for IPL 2020

Warner’s manager James Erskine confirmed to Theage.com.au that Warner will play IPL if the league is eventually organized this year. Warner has been reinstated as captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Australian Government has mentioned a level-four travel ban which means a person cannot travel outside the country. But if the Indian cricket board goes with the season, Warner is all set to join. “If the IPL is on David Warner’s planning on going. If things change dramatically, which can happen in the space of an hour, the answer is you change your mind. It’s no different to everybody else,” Erskine told The Age.

The BCCI deferred the start of the IPL 13 to April 15 from March 29. 17 Australian players will be part of this edition of the league according to signed contracts.

IPL to be held in July?

Through an official release Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary informed that the league would be delayed at least till April 15 due to pandemic situation worldwide. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020, as a precautionary measure against the ongoing Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation. The BCCI is concerned and sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that, all people related to IPL including fans have a safe cricketing experience. The BCCI will work closely with the Government of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other relevant Central and State Government departments in this regard.”

Even the Government of India also imposed a restriction on foreign passports till April 15. This clearly meant that the foreign players would not be available until the said time. Now the board will see and asses the situation before taking any further call on the future on the IPL. Reports suggested that the league might go abroad once again and could be held in the July-September period as well.
