I’d rather have him on my team than have to face him.- Stokes on Archer

Amid a lot of praiseworthy words, now Jofra Archer earns respect from his senior teammate. England all-rounder Ben Stokes has warned Australia to expect more deadly spells from Jofra Archer in their upcoming encounter at Headingley.

Stokes on Archer’s spell

Archer, who played his first Test in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s finished the match with 5/91. Even a drawn encounter could not hide his excellence, quality pace, deadly speed reaching 96mph, and hostile spells. He injured the finest from the opponent side, Steve Smith. Smith’s replacement Marnus Labuschagne could not escape either. Ben Stokes, throwing light on the same, said, “It’s part of the game and a big part of Jofra’s game, being aggressive, not letting batsmen settle. That bouncer of his is a huge asset and he’s going to keep on doing it.”

Stokes opined that the bowler is also concerned after delivering a nasty blow but can never stop repeating the act. The reason is sole because that doesn’t let the batsman stay for long. “When someone takes a nasty blow, no bowler is going to say ‘I’m not going to bowl that again because I don’t want to hit them again’,” Stokes said. “The concern is always there when someone takes it, but next ball, when you get back to the mark, it’s ‘I’m going to keep doing it’.”

Archer, an asset to England

The all-rounder added how Archer gives a different dimension to the overall English bowling attack. But the senior even doesn’t want to face this young talent from his team. Stokes will rather like to keep Jofra on his side. “He gives another dimension to our bowling attack and what we are able to do. I’d rather have him on my team than have to face him. He’s a frightening talent and he’s announced himself on the world stage, just in a different format again this year. Literally, the sky is the limit for him and he’s a great addition to our Test team.”
