I want to win World Cups, be it T20 or 50-overs- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma’s expression after India’s World Cup 2019 exit reflected the pain of the billions. It was a heart-breaking moment for all who had high hopes from Indian national cricket team. Sharma, even after so many days cannot forget the day and the memories are still fresh.

Rohit Sharma’s successful World Cup campaign in 2019

Virat Kohli’s star opener had a brilliant run in the World Cup 2019 as he ended up as the highest run- scorer. He recorded five century and broke Kumar Sangakkara’s record for most number of centuries in a single World Cup. Former Sri Lanka captain had notched up four consecutive centuries in 2015 World Cup. Rohit Sharma also equalled the record for total number of World Cup centuries with Sachin Tendulkar, after scoring his sixth.

Rohit Sharma was impeccable and made run scoring look smooth. No wonder he was shattered after India’s exit losing the semi-final against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma on World Cup memories

Rohit Sharma is unable to delete those memories even today. He told Indian Today, “It was a hard pill to swallow and it wasn’t easy because of the team that we had and the cricket that we were playing in the entire tournament. In the lead-up to the WC, we were all in good form, we were also in good space mentally, we were enjoying each other’s company. Everything was going pretty well.” He continued, “And one bad day in the office and we were out of the tournament. It’s very hard if you had to re-think about it. But again, the only thing that I wasn’t able to understand was despite having a team like that, we couldn’t go through. We had everything, we had good bowlers, batsmen.”
He concluded saying that his dream is to win at least one World Cup in whichever format possible. “But then, life moves on, you have to move on, there was so much cricket that was coming up after that as well. But I want to win World Cups, that’s my dream, be it T20 or 50-overs.”
