Suresh Raina knew about Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement much before the world came to know about it. Raina recently revealed the same to a leading daily also told how they cried after retiring from international cricket.

Raina joins Mahi Bhai
Speaking to Dainik Jagran Suresh Raina revealed what he did along with his ‘Mahi Bhai’ after taking to social media to announce retirement from international cricket following Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina have been the backbones of Chennai Super Kings for long. But very few expected him to follow Mahendra Singh Dhoni on August 15 and took retirement from international cricket on the same day as Dhoni. Just after Dhoni’s social media post, Raina shared a image on Instagram with CSK teammates and announced to join his CSK skipper.

At first, Dhoni tweeted a video on his social media and thanked all for being part of his journey throughout. Then Raina joined the scene with a tweet, “It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781. With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you, India. Jai Hind!”. The two will be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL albeit. On August 15 when India was celebrating 74th Independence Day, the duo hanged up their boots together.

What they did after announcement?
Suresh Raina told the daily later that they had already decided to announce about their decision on August 15. “I knew Dhoni would announce his retirement upon reaching Chennai, so I was ready. I, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar, and Karn Sharma reached Ranchi on 14th with the chartered plane, and picked up Mahi bhai and Monu Singh.”

He further informed, “After announcing our retirement, we hugged and cried a lot. I, Piyush, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, and Karn sat together after that, talked about our careers and our relationship. We partied during the night.”
