Why Rohit Sharma doesn’t believe in 50s and 100s

Indian captain Rohit Sharma spoke about today’s match after his side got a 50 run victory against Bangladesh. The veteran cricketer addressed the audience in the post match ceremony, and revealed how he does not believe any player must make 50s or 100s in order to win a match. What matters, according to Sharma is the fact that you’re pressuring the opposition bowlers.

“We saw one guy get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don’t believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers. All the batters from the word go played like that and that’s how we want to play as well. There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them.” Rohit said.

“[on playing aggressively with bat] I have been talking about this for a long time now. It’s about going there and putting that into work. Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. There’s a little bit of wind factor here, overall we are very smart, overall we were good with bat and ball. All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is.” He added.

Adding on about the team’s vice captain Hardik Pandya, who has recently gained back his old momentum and showed his worth with a half century which he scored off 27 balls today, Rohit gloated about how important he is to the team.

“I mentioned in the last game as well, him batting well puts us in a good stead. We want to finish well after the top 5, 6, Hardik being Hardik we know what he is capable of. He is a very important player for us, if he can keep doing that, it will put us in good positions.” Rohit raved.

Hardik Pandya became the Player Of The Match, after his impressive 50 off of 27 balls.

India to face off against Australia

The men in blue now have one of the biggest hurdles in their way to the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. India will face off against Australia in the match 51 of 55 on 24 June 2024 at the Beausejour Stadium in Saint Lucia.

The India and Australia face off will be epic as it will bring back memories of the ODI World Cup 2023 finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium when Australia won the match, and the title in India’s home ground.

India will qualify for the semifinals right away if Afghanistan loses their match against Australia on 23 June 2024, which is very likely, considering Australia’s unbeatable streak as of now.
