Mumbai Indians handed debutant cap to Dewald Brevis who is famously known as the Baby AB. The South African batter played a valuable innings amid the struggle of Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders Today.
When Mumbai Indians announced their team today, the inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav in place of Anmolpreet Singh was expected. But not a lot of people would have expected to see Brevis to play today. Tim David who scored just 13 runs in last two matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 was replaced by Brevis for today’s match. Brevis played a fine knock of 29 off 19 with two fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 152.63.
Rohit Sharma said, “We were looking to bat first. We are not looking at what happened in the last 2 games, we have to play good cricket to win games and that is what we are prepared for. Looks like a good pitch. We have done well in patches and when you want to win games you gotta perform collectively and I think that is something that was missing in the last 2 games. Couple of changes. Surykumar Yadav comes in place of Anmolpreet Singh and we got Dewald Brevis who comes in for Tim David.”
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s initial struggle seems to have ended with the partnership between Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. Both are going strong and all set to make the best of the death overs for Mumbai Indians. Kolkata Knight Riders asked Mumbai to bat first and the bowlers did well to restrict the batting side initially.
