India has not only won 3 of their matches in the group stage while the fourth match got abandoned, they also managed to bag a 47-run victory against their neighbors Afghanistan. Mohammed Siraj had not been included for the match against Afghanistan either.

India will compete in their second match for the Super Eight stage against Bangladesh in Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Both teams are a part of Group 1 for the Super 8. Find out why Mohammed Siraj is missing from today’s T20 World Cup 2024 clash against BAN.

Here’s Why Siraj was left out

Mohammed Siraj, India’s popular right arm pacer has not been included in the playing XI for India’s match against Bangladesh. The bowler had taken only 1 wicket in all of India’s matches at New York in the group stage.

However, the team’s captain Rohit Sharma has explained that the team is aware how spin bowlers are getting more favored in the Caribbean pitches, which is why it is a strategic decision to include 4 spin bowlers in the team.

Siraj has been replaced by Kuldeep Yadav, who made his T20 World Cup debut in the match against Afghanistan. The decision to replace Siraj by Kuldeep was for the team’s best as Yadav dismissed 2 Afghanistan batters in his first match.

Team India still has four pace options with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh at the top followed by Hardik Pandya and all rounder Shivam Dube being also there as an option. Dube has however, only bowled in 1 match yet.
