Team India is on a winning spree as of now, in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, their right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj is not playing India vs England Semifinals 2 match. India has not only won 3 of their matches in the group stage while the fourth match got abandoned, they also managed to bag a 47-run victory against their neighbours Afghanistan, a 50-run victory against Bangladesh and a 24- run victory against Australia in the Super 8 stage. Mohammed Siraj has played neither of the matches in West Indies.
India has competed in their third match for the Super Eight stage against Australia in the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. Both teams were a part of Group 1 for the Super 8. Australia got a defeated by India after facing defeat against Afghanistan in Super 8. India is now playing the 2nd semifinals match against England, the same team they lost to, in the semifinals of T20 World Cup 2022. The match is taking place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Here’s Why Siraj was left out from the team
India’s popular right-armer Mohammed Siraj will not be a part of India’s match against England. The bowler took only one wicket in all of India’s matches in New York during the group stage.
However, India’s captain Rohit Sharma explained that the team is aware of how spin bowlers are gaining popularity on Caribbean pitches. He mentioned that there is a strategic decision taken to include 4 spin bowlers in the team. Siraj was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav, who made his World Cup T20 debut against Afghanistan.
The decision to replace Siraj by Kuldeep Yadav was the team’s best as Yadav dismissed 2 Afghan batsmen in his first match. Kuldeep also showed great skills in the Australia match, taking wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell.
Team India still has four pace options with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh at the top, followed by Hardik Pandya and the all-rounder Shivam Dube. However, Dube has bowled in only one match till now.
India playing XI for the match:
Here are the teams as shared as Australia won the toss at the Providence Stadium:
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah
As England looks forward to a re-do of the semifinals in Ashes, team India is ready to take their revenge. Meanwhile, South Africa defeated Afghanistan in semifinals 1 in Trinidad and Tobago, making history as they entered their first ever ICC World Cup finals.
