“He deserves a farewell tour around the country”: Scott Styris on MS Dhoni

One of the legends of the modern-day Legends MS Dhoni has been hinting about his retirement many times during the post-match interview. There have been rumors that this will be Captain Cool’s final IPL since the T20 extravaganza’s inception and he has led CSK to four titles since the start of the current season.

In response to the probability that Dhoni may play his final season, former New Zealand and CSK player Scott Styris advised Dhoni to make his retirement announcement ahead of time so that he can be granted a farewell tour of the nation.

Scott Styris said

“I think he wouldn’t be playing now if he wasn’t in the love of being in the dressing room. I hope that whenever he decides to hang up the bat, whether it’s now, or next season or many seasons later, that he announces it, because he deserves a farewell tour around the country,” said Styris on JioCinema.

Further praising Dhoni as a wonderful servant of the game, Styris remarked that everyone should get the opportunity to thank him for his contributions.

“He has been a great servant of Indian cricket and the IPL. This will give everyone a chance to show their appreciation to Dhoni for his contributions not just for Indian cricket but for world cricket as well,” Styris added.

With each game, the 41-year-old is also teasing his impending retirement. Notably, he mentioned that after the match against KKR, the crowd had come to bid him farewell.

“I will just say thanks for the support, they came in big numbers. Most of these guys will come in a KKR jersey next time. They are trying to give me a farewell, so thanks a lot to the crowd,” said Dhoni at the post-match presentation.

Looking at CSK’s performance in this season, they will most likely qualify for the playoffs of the TATA IPL 2023. The Qualifier 1 and eliminator is held at the home ground of CSK which gives them an added advantage of lifting the title for the fifth time.
