Hardik Pandya backs his captaincy style; praises Sai Sudarshan as the post match conference

After completing a comfortable victory against Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya expressed his thoughts on their team’s performance and his captaincy during the post-match press conference. Pandya admitted that the start of the match was a bit uncertain and they gave away 15-20 runs more in the powerplay. However, he emphasized his instinctive approach to captaincy and his preference for backing himself rather than taking others’ decisions.

“I’d rather punch first”

Pandya added that he encourages his team to enjoy the game and make the right decisions, while also supporting each other through tough periods. He believes that a happy and united team is essential for success in cricket. On a positive note, Pandya praised Sai Sudarshan’s performance, stating that his hard work is bearing fruit and he is likely to achieve big things in franchise cricket in the next two years, as well as hopefully for India in the future.

Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Hardik Pandya said, “It was little funny at the start. We didn’t know what was happening but something was happening. We gave away 15-20 runs more in the powerplay.”

However, when asked about his captaincy style, Pandya said that it came naturally to him. Hardik Pandya is known to be an aggressive captain. He attacks the opposition on their weak parts and always manages to emerge victorious. In terms of his captaincy style, Pandya stated that he prefers to rely on his instincts and back himself, rather than taking others’ decisions. He also emphasized the importance of his team enjoying the game and making the right decisions while supporting each other through tough periods.

“It is my instinct. I like to back myself. I’d rather back me and fall down than taking others’ decision. I’d rather land the first punch than take the first punch. We tell the boys to enjoy. It will help to take us right decisions and someone takes us through periods when needed. Whatever happens it is okay but be out happy out there and take care of each other. [Sudharsan] He has been batting beautifully. You can see the fruit of his hard work. In two years he will do something big in franchise cricket and hopefully for India.”, Pandya further added.

In the match, Delhi Capitals scored 162 runs in their 20 overs, but Gujarat Titans managed to chase it down in just 18.1 overs, with Sai Sudarshan scoring an unbeaten 62 to secure the victory for his team. The Gujarat Titans’ captain’s words indicate a confident and determined team spirit that could propel them to further success in the tournament.
