Harbhajan Compares MI-CSK Battle With India-Pakistan Rivalry

India’s off-spinner Harbhajan Singh compared the battles between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to the famous rivalry between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan. As he played for both franchises, he went on to describe his feelings of featuring in such a classic face-off.

Harbhajan Singh represented Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for last 12 seasons in Indian Premier League. To him, the rivalry can be easily compared to the India-Pakistan one and he shared his first memory of featuring as a Mumbai player against CSK.

“First time, it was very strange. I was like ‘what is this? Is this a dream?’ Whenever we played against CSK, it was like India-Pakistan, it was a tough game. Then suddenly, I was not wearing blue and wearing yellow was difficult. It was very difficult to get used to.” In an interview on CSK’s Instagram channel, he further added that by second season he got used to the situation. “Luckily, we played our first match against Mumbai. I was like, ‘it was good we got over this match early’. Throughout the first season, it was difficult. After that, we won the trophy. The second season was better.”

Harbhajan Singh on 2018 IPL win

Harbhajan Singh, India’s one of the best off-spinners of all times is yet to take retirement from his international cricket career and a familiar face in IPL circuit. He represented four -time IPL winners Mumbai Indians between 2008 and 2017 and then was bought by three-time champions Chennai Super Kings. Speaking about the winning moments of 2018 IPL in yellow jersey he said, “Winning the Indian Premier League with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 was a very special moment.”

Bhajji further explained why it was special and recalled, “And last year, we finished runner-up. I think we played brilliant cricket. Obviously, after having played for 10 long years in Blue, moving to Yellow took some time, but by the end of the season we had won the title.”
