Ganguly’s concern for Indian team led by Virat

The return of Sourav Ganguly after being the BCCI president saw his hometown welcoming him with absolute pride. Ganguly answered more questions on Indian cricket rather than his new administrative role and shared some food for thought.

Ganguly’s opinion on Indian cricket team

Ganguly opined on the dark side of India’s performance. He said: “India are a good team. The only issue (skipper) Virat Kohli needs to address is that we have not won the last seven major tournaments. But they play well in big tournaments, except the semifinals and the final. Hopefully, Virat can change it around. He is a champion player.”

He thinks that Wriddhiman Saha must score more runs if the latter wants to have a long career. “There is no question on his wicketkeeping skills but he has to score runs if he has to play 100 matches. There is one more match in the South Africa series and he still has a chance to score a century,” said Ganguly.

Ganguly back to Kolkata

Ganguly’s only nomination for the post of the most important post of Indian cricket administration made his fans emotional. One issue that has been viral amongst fans and media is how he would give an answer to the politics done to him. No wonder media had questions on a similar line. Ganguly clearly stated, “Only three Indian cricketers have played more than 300 ODIs and 100 Test matches. They are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and yours truly. This would have been impossible had I faced politics or injustice,” the former skipper said.

There were questions regarding his issue with coach Greg Chappell back in 2005-2006 when he lost captaincy and his deputy Rahul Dravid took over. The media asked if his new role can be termed as “the Bengal tiger is back”. Ganguly was fast enough with his humourous tone, “You can say ‘back in Bengal’.”
