What if a huge percentage of those followers turn out to be fake? A study suggests that a lot of Indian stars are followed by such fake social media accounts.

According to a study by UK-based website ICMP, big names from entertainment and sports industries have a good amount of fake followers. The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is a UK-based website. It deals with audits like “most successful” and “most followed” lists. The idea is to measure what percentage of social media following is actually real.

Kohli accompanies Priyanka and Deepika

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is a famous Indian name to get featured in the list. The sports list is topped by the famous German footballer Toni Kroos with 43% fake followers on social media. Kohli is a famous name on all social media platforms and attracts followers with his regular posts, picture, and videos. He is often seen with his wife, Anushka Sharma in those posts. The 23rd ranked Virat Kohli charges $196,000 per post.

The list has two Indian names from Bollywood. The study suggests that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have the highest number of fake followers among Indian film industry celebrities, among a list of Hollywood celebrities. While Deepika Padukone is placed in sixth place with 45% fake followers across all social media platforms, Priyanka Chopra’s followers include 43% that are fake.
