Faf-Maxwell partnership puts RCB in a strong position

Royal Challengers Bangalore were tottering for 16-2 in the powerplay against the mighty Mumbai Indians. Another wicket and the team could have been staring at a low total. Maxwell walked in against his countryman Jason Behrendorff who was breathing fire making the ball talk. He had scalped two wickets with the big fish of Virat Kohli. But what followed thereafter was a complete show of destruction.

The explosive partnership

Following their play bold approach, the duo decided to play Fire with Fire. It was absolute carnage at the Wankhede with the ball flying all over the park. The partnership was mixed with caution and aggression. They added 120 runs for the 3rd wicket. With scoops and reverse sweeps, the partnership was full blockbuster gluing spectators to their seats. Maxwell nonchalantly reverse-swept Jordan for a 53-metre boundary. They attacked MI’s best bowler Piyush Chawla thus putting the home team on the back foot.

In the IPL 2023 match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Glenn Maxwell blasted a 25-ball 50 to put RCB in control. In just 30 balls, Faf du Plessis, who was batting at the other end, also reached his half-century. After RCB was reduced to 16/2 in 2.2 overs, the two put together a 120-run stand for the third wicket. Mumbai, who chose to bat, got off to a great start as Jason Behrendorff took off Virat Kohli for one and then packed Anuj Rawat for six. With five victories each in the ten games they have played, both sides are evenly matched.
