Dhoni says

The future of MS Dhoni’s international cricket career remains a mystery. While the critics, experts, and fans have a lot to talk about this, Dhoni himself kept his silence throughout. But recently in an event, he finally commented on the same. Dhoni asked people to not question him about the same till January. He was present at an event in Mumbai where media obviously asked him about his future as an international cricketer. Dhoni said, “January tak mat poocho (don’t ask me till January).”

Dhoni’s international career in question

MS Dhoni took a sabbatical from cricket after India’s 2019 World Cup campaign. The tournament ended with the semi-final loss against New Zealand and gave birth to controversies around his approach towards the chase that India could not complete. He made himself unavailable for the three-match T20I series against the West Indies and was also not included in the squad for the T20I series against South Africa. Then once again he kept himself out of the selection process ahead of the series against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the selectors gave a hint of making Rishabh Pant regular keeper-batsman in the limited-overs but the young batsman failed to capitalize on the opportunities he got. There were guesses of MS Dhoni making a comeback during the upcoming West Indies series. But it did not happen. The head coach of Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri shared his opinion on the same a couple of days ago saying, “It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL. What are the other people doing with the wicket-keeping gloves or what is the form of those players as opposed to Dhoni’s form. The IPL becomes a massive tournament because that could be the last tournament after which more or less your 15 is decided.”
