Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket has been a point of discussion especially after the shocking exit of Indian team from the World Cup 2019. Since then he is away from cricket filed but every move on him makes headlines. That is what Dhoni’s aura and impact are! A lot suspected the ICC World Cup 2019 to be his last venture but Dhoni did not hang up his boot and went for a two-month leave after that. Now social media is abuzz since Thursday morning about a press conference being called by Dhoni at 7 pm and fans are being anxious.

Earlier in the day, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli took to social media and shared a photo from a match from 2016 World T20. He along with Dhoni took the responsibility to win the match for the team and produced a match-winning partnership against Australia. Sharing the photo Virat wrote, “A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test @msdhoni”. Virat’s post already gave birth to speculations which almost got confirmation after the press conference news broke in.

Nothing official yet

Although the selectors earlier gave a vibe that Rishabh Pant is being groomed for the future keeper of the team, nobody from the bard has confirmed any news regarding Dhoni’s retirement yet.

During the announcement of India’s squad for the West Indies tour, the chief selector MSK Prasad clarified, “Retirement is purely individual (decision). A legendary cricketer like Dhoni, he knows when to retire. What is the future course of action, that is in the hands of the selection committee. I don’t think we need to discuss anything more on it. First of all he is not available. Second, we have already started grooming youngsters.”
