Devon Conway lauds praises for his captain MS Dhoni

Devon Conway, the prolific CSK opener, recently expressed his appreciation for his captain MS Dhoni, commending him for supporting and encouraging him in the team, which has allowed him to play with freedom during matches. Conway described the experience of having Dhoni as his leader as “special” and said that he is inspired by the former Indian captain’s serene and composed nature.

Dhoni is a special captain

Conway has been enjoying a remarkable run of form for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Ahead of their match against the Punjab Kings, the Kiwi batter has already amassed 322 runs in just eight games, including four half-centuries. Conway’s performances have placed him in fourth position in the race for the prestigious Orange Cap.

“Having MS as the leader, as our captain is very special for me. Just having his experience and his backing is very helpful for me as a cricketer. The way he goes about his business, being very super calm, relaxed, not really panicking too much and it sort of helps me as a player to go out there and just relax and just enjoy the occasion and just play with freedom. Getting that sense of backing from him is crucial and beneficial for a player.” Conway said in an interview shared by his franchise, CSK, on Twitter.

From Test to T20

Conway also opened up about his transition from being a successful Test cricketer to excelling in the T20 format. The talented batsman disclosed that he has made a few adjustments to his style of play to adapt to the demands of T20 cricket. Conway expressed his enthusiasm at being a part of the world’s premier T20 league and is relishing the opportunity to showcase his skills on the biggest stage in the sport.

“I’ve just come out of playing a fair bit of test cricket. So for me I had to prepare and it’s just about changing that mindset into the T20 mode, just sort of going over some of the options that I’d normally take in T20 cricket and the mindset obviously shifts to a little bit more positive and attacking mindset. But other than that I don’t try to change too much. I know that in the T20 format, you are going to take a few more risks naturally but it’s all the more exciting to be in this format.” he further added.
