David Warner, the star Australian batter will be captaining Delhi Capitals team in the upcoming Indian Premier League. As per the press release shared by the franchise, Axar Patel, the Indian all-rounder has been appointed as the vice-captain of the side.
New captain and vice-captain
David Warner, the third-highest run-scorer of the Indian Premier League, has replaced Rishabh Pant. The Indian keeper-batter will be missing the tournament following a horrific car accident in December 2022. Pant has been currently going through the rehab and is trying to make a comeback at the soonest. Warner, who will be leading the franchise this year, previously captained the Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden title in 2016. He has accumulated a total of 5668 runs from 155 IPL matches at a sensational strike-rate of 140.58.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals also informed that Axar Patel will be the vice-captain of the side. He has been in a brilliant form recently in IPL and also in international cricket and will be one of the key players for Delhi Capitals.

“The JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals today announced Australian batter David Warner as Captain for the upcoming season of the TATA Indian Premier League. Warner steps in as skipper for Rishabh Pant, who is currently undergoing rehab and recovery. Meanwhile, all-rounder Axar Patel has been named the team’s Vice Captain. The franchise also announced former India captain Sourav Ganguly as the franchise’s Director of Cricket. Ganguly has been associated with Delhi Capitals in the past too, in the role of Mentor, during the 2019 season.” Delhi Capitals wrote in their official press release.
