Celebrations all around, English fans went crazy

Ben Stokes is certainly the most loved and treasured man currently in England. Two months and two historic wins- he gave it all to list his team to the honour of glory. No wonder the fans went crazy in England after the crazy win in the third Test of Ashes at Headingley.

When Stokes did unthinkable

On Sunday, Stokes and Jack Leach were chasing down 76 runs with just one wicket in hand. Nobody expected England to win the Test. Moreover, even the experts were sure of the Aussies retaining the Ashes. But then Stokes and Leach did something unbelievable. Stokes scored all but one run for the last-wicket stand of 76 with Leach. On the other hand, Leach showed absolute class and determination by rotating strokes when it needed. He knew Stokes needed to get those strikes and he certainly did not want to try hitting and getting dismissed by Pat Cummins and team. They did win the match with some drama at the end. Nathan Lyon fumbled the ball when presented with a golden opportunity to run out Leach. On the very next ball, Stokes was clearly LBW but the original decision was NOT Out and Australia had already wasted their final review in the previous over.

But these are all parts of the games. They say that fortune favours the brave. This is what exactly happened with Stokes around. Last month England managed to lift their maiden World Cup trophy amidst controversies related to ICC rule. But again the way Stokes won the finale as well, he showed how class matters.

The crown reciprocated

The crowd in England most certainly became crazy after the unimaginable win. They were all over the roads and pubs to celebrate success. Even the scorching heat could not stop them. The three-day weekend saw record numbers of people entering pubs and clubs for boozy nights out.

Some did unthinkable things to pay tribute to the unthinkable innings of Stokes. There was a fan entered his office wearing a cricket kit. Former Australia batsman Dean Jones posted the hilarious video on Twitter that showed the fan with a bat in his hand and pads and gloves on entering the office on Monday.
