Brook is not in the right mindset: Lee

Harry Brook, known as the next big thing in world cricket, was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. The England cricket cricketer was expected to make it big at the stage of Indian Premier League. But things are not looking good for him. Brett Lee, former Australia pacer believes that Brook is not in the right mindset.

Brook, who smashed four hundreds in his first six Tests, took time to settled down in IPL 2023. However, on April 14, he went on to hit a match-winning hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders and also shut his critics. That, unfortunately, turned out to be the only time that Brook could rise to the occasion for the Hyderabad team in the IPL. So far, he has scored 163 runs in nine matches. Even last time, when Hyderabad still had great chance to win, Brook failed to add a single run during the chase against KKR.

Speaking of him, Lee said on Jio Cinema, “He is obviously a class player. He has got Test hundreds. He has got a hundred here as well. But I feel, SRH are losing a spot. May be they bring someone else instead of Harry Brook for a couple of games. They are losing.” He added, “Nothing against Harry Brook, he is a gun. But he is not in the right mindset.”

Even former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa also commented, “Probably, someone else at No. 6 instead of Harry Brook. He is having a pretty lean run.” Uthappa said, “He has been on a lean patch after that hundred. He will get better at playing in India as time goes on. He will figure out a solution. He is too good a batter not to find out a solution. It’s just a matter of time.”

He suggested, “They have Glenn Phillips who can bat in the middle-order. If it’s not working, it’s not working, you have got to enough opportunities and if it’s not coming off, it’s not.”
