Ahead of their opening encounter against Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals have been dealt with a big blow. Their pacer Ishant Sharma has suffered an injury during training on Saturday. It’s uncertain whether he will take part in the game in Dubai or not.
The pacer will be assessed before the game and the final call on his participation in the game will be taken as per that assessment. Ishant was certain of a place in the team perhaps as the only Indian pacer. So, the Capitals squad must be careful in taking the final decision.
Ishant Sharma’s Injury Update
“He did injure himself while training yesterday, but we will see how it goes. We will assess his injury status before the game and will take a call accordingly. We have the medical team which takes a final call on these matters”, a Delhi Capitals support staff told ANI.
Amongst the pacers, the team has Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje as the premier fast bowlers. If Ishant doesn’t make the cut, Mohit Sharma might find a place in the opening encounter.
At the beginning of the tournament, the surfaces in the UAE are expected to assist the pacers. But as the tournament progresses, the spinners would come into play even more. So, it’s more important for the seamers to make an impact in the initial few games.
