After having an electrifying season in the World Cup, India faced a heartbreaking defeat in the final match of World Cup 2023 against Australia. After performing exceptionally well, India couldn’t make it to the finals. Australia’s dominance in the final match took the match away from them. Australia was exceptional in the final clash. They played exceptionally well. After that heart-breaking defeat, Indian opener Shubman Gill posted about the last match on social media.

Shubman Gill is one of the talented players of the Indian squad. Being a youngster, he has achieved so many things. In this World Cup, he started with a setback. At the beginning of the tournament, he was tested positive for dengue. He didn’t play the first few matches. He started playing in the match against Pakistan. He played so many memorable knocks throughout the tournament. But in the last match, he didn’t score well. He got out just scoring 4 runs. 

After the match, he opened up about his feelings. On social media, he wrote, “ Been almost 16 hours but still hurts like it did last night. Sometimes giving your everything isn’t enough. We fell short of our ultimate goal but every step in this journey has been a testament to our team’s spirit and dedication. To our incredible fans, your unwavering support in our highs and lows means the world to us. This isn’t the end, it’s not over until we win. Jai Hind.”

India’s Heartbreaking Defeat:

India set an example of excellence in the group stage and the semifinal stage. They entered in the final being unbeaten. But the final performance was disheartening. After losing the toss, India was batting first. Shubman Gill got out quickly by scoring only 4runs. Rohit Sharma missed half-century only by 3 runs. He got out on 47 runs. Virat Kohli played an inning of 54 runs in 63 balls. Shreyas Iyer walked away after scoring only 4 runs. KL Rahul contributed 66 runs in the crucial situations. Ravindra Jadeja got out on 9 runs. Suryakumar Yadav got dismissed by Josh Hazelwood in 18 runs. After 50 overs, India scored 240 runs.

India’s bowling performance was not up to the mark. They tried but couldn’t dominate the opponent. Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets in 43 runs. Mohammad Shami took 1 wicket in 47 runs. Mohammed Siraj took 1 wicket in 45 runs. Other bowlers remained wicketless. Australia won the match and named the title for the sixth time.
