Beckham’s India Delight: Football Icon Reveals in India’s Magic, Diwali Celebration and Vows to Return after UNICEF’s Mission

India registered a sensational win against New Zealand in the first semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. That was a crucial fixture of the tournament. India and New Zealand are all-time rivals in the ICC knockout stage. In the 2019 World Cup semifinal, India was knocked out of the tournament after facing a defeat from New Zealand in the semifinal stage. But in this match, India took the revenge. English football star David Beckham came to India as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador and witnessed the match.

Beckham on a Unreal Experience:

Beckham came to India for a three-day tour as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. When he reached Ahmedabad, he was seen playing cricket with local kids. On November 15, India and New Zealand met for the first semifinal at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai along with Sachin Tendulkar. He shared his feelings about that electrifying atmosphere.  He walked on the ground with Sachin and met players.

After that, BCCI posted a video on its social media handle, where David Beckham is seen talking about his experience. He said, “ I think it’s nice to step into a stadium and get goosebumps and I felt it as soon as I walked into this stadium maybe because I was walking with Sachin even when there weren’t many people at the start I could feel It’’

Later the football star was asked some fun questions. He was asked if would he be a batter, bowler, or all-rounder. In answer, he said, “I used to play cricket when I was a young kid at school. I always liked being the batter, but I also like to bowl and I also like to field. So maybe I’m an all-rounder, but I see myself more as a batter.

A tricky question was asked to him. He was asked ‘Who is louder? Football fans or cricket fans’. In reply, he said, “You know what? I would always say football fans but being here today, I’m not sure. The atmosphere is incredible. The fans are creating an electric atmosphere and they’re very loud, so I’m not so sure.

This was Beckham’s first tour to India. When he was asked about his first experience of visiting the country, he said, “ It is my first time in India and it’s been an incredible experience. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to come to India. But now I’m finally here. I can’t wait to come back. I suppose all of the stuff that I have been doing with UNICEF, meeting incredible young children, and inspiring young children, especially some young girls, that were truly inspiring. Everything that they were saying and they want to believe in change. But I think the whole experience from the people, the children, the food, the energy here in the stadium and being here for Diwali and the New Year and the cricket World Cup, it couldn’t have been any more perfect.”

Final Calling for India:

After completing the semifinal stage, India has reached the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final. India is still unbeaten in the tournament. After playing 10 matches, they haven’t faced any defeat. That boosted the confidence to the next level. India is hosting the tournament. The team is in excellent form. All the players are in their peak form. Last time, when India arranged the World Cup, they became the winner in 2011. This time fans are hoping for the same.
