BCB: Bangladesh Team To Engage In Seven Red Ball Matches To Practice Ahead Of The World Test Championship

As most cricket teams are busy playing the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and had been accustomed to the T20 format of cricket by practicing for the said tournament months before it’s start, the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has announced that team Bangladesh will prepare for World Test Championship with 7 matches of the red ball format.

Bangladesh will play Test series against South Africa, West Indies Pakistan and India in their 2023-25 WTC cycle. The team is currently playing in the Super 8 phase of ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Bangladesh will play their next match for group 1 of the Super 8 against Afghanistan on 25 June 2024. The team has recently lost a match against India by 50 runs.

Bangladesh to Play in 7 Test matches

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that the team would engage in 7 matches of the red ball format after getting finished with the T20 World Cup 2024. These matches would be against the South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan and India teams.

The Test team will play three four-day games in Chattogram next month, followed by two four-day matches against Pakistan A in Darwin from July 19 to 29. The Bangladesh A squad will travel to Pakistan in August to play two four-day matches. Additionally, New Zealand A intends to visit Bangladesh in August or September.

“We can give them the best preparation ahead of the gruelling Test schedule in the coming months. The rest is up to the players. I have been following the Bangladesh Tigers camp, which is going well,” Jalal Yunus said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

The Bangladesh senior men’s squad is scheduled to go to Pakistan on August 17 for two Test matches, the locations and dates of which have yet to be revealed. After Pakistan, there will be two Tests against India in Chennai and Kanpur, followed by three Twenty20 Internationals.
