The match was being played at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday (June 16). Tanzim was found guilty of a Level 1 misconduct according to the ICC rules, and will be playing with 15% of his match fees.

Here’s what happened between the two players

It was during Nepal’s batting innings that their captain Rohit Paudel was batting for his team. Bangladesh’s young star and right arm pacer was seen shouting “what happened” several times while also moving aggressively towards the Nepal batter.

There seemed to be some verbal exchange between the two players which then escalated into inappropriate physical contact. The duo were separated by the onfield umpires and their respective teammates.

Tanzim admitted the violation and accepted the sentence imposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the necessity for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal, and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena all made the charge.

What happens after multiple violations

This was Tanzim Hakim Sakib’s first violation in 2 years, which led to a penalty of 15% of his match fees. In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Tanzim’s disciplinary record.

When a player accumulates four or more demerit points during a 24-month period, they are turned into suspension points, and the player is suspended. Two suspension points result in a ban for one Test, two ODIs, or two T20Is, whichever comes first for the player. Level 1 violations result in a minimum punishment of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50% of the player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Tanzim breached the Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article is concerned with “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match.”
