On September 24, India bagged a huge victory against Australia in the 2nd ODI in Indore. Indian batters were on fire. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer both scored centuries for the team. Captain KL Rahul scored a half-century. Suryakumar Yadav played a fiery innings of 72 in just 37 balls. Depending on those mighty performances, India put on a 399/5 in 50 overs. They bagged the series with that win. But within this atmosphere, India received bad news before the 3rd against Australia. Axar Patel is going to miss the third ODI against Australia. 

Axar’s injury update:

Axar Patel is set to miss the third ODI against Australia. It is a setback for India. Axar is currently in NCA, Bangalore, undergoing a rehabilitation process. It is heard that he is not fit yet to play the third ODI against Australia. 

Axar’s injury happened during the match against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2023. He and Shubman Gill were batting then he got injured. After the match, it was confirmed that Axar had sustained left quadriceps strain. Because of this injury, he didn’t play in the Asia Cup final. Washington Sundar replaced him in the final.     

Scenario before World Cup:

The World Cup is near. It is just a few days left for the tournament to start. In this high time, Axar’s injury is a setback for India. Before the World Cup India is playing a three-match ODI series against Australia. Axar was rested in the first two matches. His name was there in the squad for the third ODI. but he is going to miss this.

Before the biggest tournament, Indian team management is looking into Workload management keenly. They announced two different squads for three matches against Australia. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya were rested for the first two ODIs. Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur will be rested in the third match. Kohli, Rohit, and Pandya are returning in the third ODI. India already won the series by 2-0. It will be a big boost before the World Cup for the team.
