Avesh Khan Made an impression for Delhi Capitals in their first match of the season in IPL 2021. The Capitals finished as the runners-up in IPL 2020 and would like to go the distance this time and Avesh gave them the perfect start against Chennai Super Kings by dismissing Faf de Plessis for a duck. He later returned to get another big fish, MS Dhoni before he open his innings and ended with an impressive 2 for 23 in his 4 overs.

Avesh Khan Made an impression for Delhi Capitals

The Madhya Pradesh fast bowler is under the radar for last few overs but did not get enough opportunity in IPL till date. The tall, lanky pacer came to limelight as part of India Under-19 squad in 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. Thanks to his great height, he could use the bounce of the pitch well and also developed a good off cutter. He was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2017 IPL auction but played just 1 match for them. In the 2018 auction he was picked up Delhi Daredevils for 75 Lakh and since then this is his home during the IPL. However, his chances were limited as the Delhi based franchise had other fast bowling options like Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma and Chris Morris. He played 6 matches in IPL 2018 but was not successful.

His 4 wickets in that season came with an average of 51 and economy rate of 10.73. As a result, he remained just a squad player for next few seasons and played only 1 match each in 2019 and 2020 without picking up a single wicket. In this year also, he got his chance as both Rabada and Nortje are quarantined after joining the squad this week.

Domestic Cricket

In domestic cricket Avesh is regular member for Madhya Pradesh Ranji team and already has 100 First Class wickets in 26 matches with an impressive average of 23.01. He also got his chance for India-A and was part of India’s squad as net bowler during the test series against England. If he continues his good show, a India call up may not be far away.
